Major Australian PV Project in the Philippines
More than 1,000 packaged photovoltaic systems have been installed in 50 towns in eastern Samar, under a project funded by Australia's international development agency. BP Solar Australia is managing contractor for the project, the largest of its type in the world. The systems are part of the four-year Municipal Solar
Infrastructure Project that started in 1997, to provide power for water systems, schools, and community buildings. Local residents have been trained to maintain solar batteries and to reserve funds for future maintenance.
